Jack Missett
Artistic Director

Jack Missett is a proud veteran of several Carlsbad Playreaders productions, as well as many plays performed in San Diego and Orange Counties. Recently for the Playreaders, he appeared in The 1940's Radio Show Christmas Carol, Boy Gets Girl and The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, among others.

A member of the New Village Arts Theatre Actors' Ensemble, he has performed in NVA's award-winning ensembles in A Lie of the Mind (co-produced with Backyard Productions), Waverly Gallery, and Curse of the Starving Class (co-produced with Cygnet Theatre). Other appearances include productions at Palomar College, The Old Town Theatre, San Clemente Playhouse, 6th & Penn, Laguna Playhouse, Saddleback College, as well as several other New Village Arts productions.

Jack runs JM Digital Works, a division of Jazzercise, Incorporated, founded by his wife, Judi Sheppard Missett. He is a graduate of Northwestern University, and, in his younger years, worked as a television news reporter at WBBM-TV, the CBS owned & operated station in Chicago.



James Hall
Board Of Directors

James Hall recently retired from Carlsbad Unified School district as manager of the Carlsbad Community Arts Center for 21 years. During his tenure, he designed and facilitated many technical improvements to the Arts Center, as well as sharing his creative talents through Carlsbad Community Theatre. Directing credits include Christmas Carol, Fiddler on the Roof, and Into the Woods. Set design credits include Into the Woods, Fiddler on the Roof, Amahl and the Night Visitors, and Charlotte's Web. His acting roles include Mr. Mushnik in Little Shop of Horrors, Daddy Warbucks in Annie, Andrew Carnes in Oklahoma, and Marley's Ghost in Christmas Carol. For PATH (Performing Arts Theater of the Handicapped), Jim's roles include Editor Webb in Our Town, and Patrick in Loud Red Patrick. After graduating with a B.S. in Theater and studying mime with Tony Montanaro, Jim and Bonnie toured New England, Louisiana and Colorado with their original shows. Jim worked for three years as the technical director for Sangre de Cristo Arts Center in Pueblo, Colorado.



Bonnie Hall
Board Of Directors

Bonnie Hall served on the board of Carlsbad Community Theatre for 14 years and directed many productions for that organization. She specializes in theatre for young audiences and performers. Some of her favorite productions include Peter Pan, Once on This Island, Charlotte's Web, and The Wind in the Willows. Before moving to Carlsbad, she was the director of San Dieguito Youth Theatre in Del Mar and, before that, director of Youth Programs for the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center in Pueblo, Colorado. She and Jim were professional mimes and toured New England, Louisiana and Colorado with their original shows. Bonnie holds a B.A. in acting from State University of New York, Brockport, and an M.A. in Theatre for Young Audiences from SDSU. Bonnie's "day job" is director of Public Relations for MiraCosta College, a position she has enjoyed since 1986.



Jessica Padilla
Board Of Directors

Jessica Padilla is a board member of the Playreaders, and also handles press, promotions and marketing for us. She served as Public Relations manager and Communications Associate at the Tony Award-winning La Jolla Playhouse, where she worked on world premieres such as Jersey Boys and Thoroughly Modern Millie. She also served as Press director of Los Angeles' Geffen Playhouse. A board member of the San Diego chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), she co-chairs PRSA San Diego's Community Services Committee. Jessica currently serves as Community Coordinator for the Carlsbad Library.
